The Morris Lehman Mayer Award is named in honor of Morris Lehman Mayer, business professor emeritus. For three decades, Mayer was a beloved UA teacher and a guiding force in student life. The award recognizes one faculty member and one member of the graduating class who exemplify integrity, selfless service and leadership at UA and in the community while making significant contributions to student life.

Morris Mayer was guided by the principle of “paying your Civic Rent” and the award committee aims to impart that principle to all. Recipients are honored not only with the award, but become part of the “Mayer Family,” made up of past award recipients and board members. Winners are honored with a family banquet, which toasts their achievement and welcomes them with a feast, completed by Mayer’s favorite dessert, the chocolate almond ball. This time allows members to connect and support one another, bound together by Mayer’s commitment to service, education, UA and making the world a better place.
